Education programmes

Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University opted to fully adopt the Bachelor/Masters/Doctorate reform at a very early stage, in 2004. This Bachelor/Masters/Doctorate reform plays a direct role in the process to harmonise university studies on a European level. University studies are structured around fields of study, federating the broad range of skills within the university.

Within each field, subjects cover a scientific area - or more specifically specialisations or courses - reflecting the disciplinary and vocational skills acquired by the student. Courses are divided into semesters, each representing 30 training credits (ECTS - European Credit Transfer System), which are cumulative and can be transferred from one university to another. A bachelor's degree corresponds to 180 credits and a masters to an additional 120 credits. Each student therefore has the possibility of structuring his/her own academic track on the basis of his/her career plans and benefits from national and international mobility.
In order to successfully implement this major higher education reform, UVSQ has relied on its high level of multidisciplinarity and its close links with leading research bodies and other PRES UniverSud Paris players. Lastly, its firmly established position in the region and the contribution of its partners in the socio-economic world, have also helped UVSQ offer an original and innovative range of training programmes.
